That software does exists, and is made by me. One that the developer actually tests with many many Nvidia GPU's at every new release. And what ends up happening is breaking PowerMizer, or provide no result (depends on the driver).Ī software that actually scans the user system and apply the correct modification properly. A problem with the about tweak tool that I notice, is that it doesn't know if you are using a desktop of a laptop. we can all double click on a reg file.ĭifferent drivers, and graphic card has different configuration settings. This tool is not well made, it's some person that made a program that apply a registry tweak he found on the net. so many stories of disaster after using this too. (if the direct link doesn't work- it's under download details)Ĭlick to expand.Oh no, not this tool. it's on the external- bb and post it here but if I had to look at high gammas just because of the driver limits- I'd probably roid rage upgrade I found I could play starcraft 2 smooth on ultra. if your ocing you can run the nvpm manager and turn off the overheat setting (that used to be off by default as well) The power mizer adaptive is still broken with the new drivers though- least for the 260 it doesn't kick down in aero. they bumped high quality down a notch for whatever reason, so you can use high quality in the newer drivers without much of a performance hit. I realised some things too in 177.83 texture quality set on "quality" = "high quality" in the newer drivers. If you try it- you'll see the contrast difference right away and wonder how the hell you've been gaming looking at huangs ass this whole time so don't just import it without checking your putting in the right keys first- id's = I'm posting the reg file for anyone on 64 bit vista/7 who wants to see the difference themselves (you may have to make some changes to the id's before import but that will be easy if you look up each key with regedit beforehand). ![]() that's what got me on this project to fix the gammas. I was playing starcraft 2 with the new beta and the whole time thinking it's not anywhere as deep in contrast as I'm used to. Made some changes to the old reg file to match any changes between drivers (they were minor but there was a couple different id's that had to be updated between the two) I then imported and rebooted. now I installed the latest nvidia beta and did the same registry compare I exported those 11 keys in regedit and then combined them all into a single reg file. I found a total of 11 entries were changed I recorded the registry once with reg shot, then I moved all the sliders under desktop color in the nvidia control panel and recorded the registry a second time for a compare. I got the registry entries used by opening the nvidia control panel, then ran a registry monitor ( ) it actually changed the nvidia control panel to match the older 177.83. What I did was calibrate with an older driver like the 177.83, saved those settings in a reg and imported it on top of the newer driver without third party software (and this should work for any other drivers you install down the road). ![]() now I'm all for calibrating monitors- but I came up with a fix for the panel that worked instead sort of like a personal pantone bookįast forward to later drivers. I like to setup the monitor first then finish the adjustment in the driver with some pictures with bright and dark pinks, blues, and greens. adjusting gammas was never an issue on these older drivers, the power mizer kicked in and out like it was supposed to, but what was taken for granted was you could adjust the gamma down low while still preserving colors in the panel- this allowed you to keep a deep contrast without going crazy with the monitor settings I gave this driver a try after the lesser ones that came before like 177.43 and I liked how stable it was. it's more taylored to the plug and be gay market that's a big part of the customer baseīack in the day when the 260 released, they also released the first 64 bit physx driver 177.83 not long after. I dunno if this is done by design but I wouldn't doubt it. in the newer drivers, the panel doesn't allow you to set the gamma low and still preserve colors. Might help someone out there who wants the old nvidia color adjustment panel back.
